Trazodone - Patient Treatment Information
This treatment plan is an overview of your doctor’s recommendation. Here, we’ll go over what that recommendation includes, instructions for you to follow, as well as the risks and benefits of your treatment.
Please make sure to read through your treatment plan completely as well as the manufacturer’s pamphlet that’s included with your prescription. The manufacturer’s pamphlet will include important information on drug interactions, side effects, and any other important information you should know about the medicine before you start taking it.
Instructions
Trazodone is an antidepressant that’s been FDA approved to treat symptoms of depression. It’s also commonly prescribed off-label to help with insomnia and improve sleep, especially for those who are experiencing acute insomnia due to a negative life experience or increased stress.
Trazodone works by helping to restore the balance of a certain natural chemical (serotonin) in the brain.
It’s considered to be non-addictive and is not a controlled substance.
How To Take:
Take one tablet once a day at bedtime as directed by your doctor.
Be sure to take Trazodone exactly as it’s been prescribed to you. Do not take more or less than your prescription without first consulting with your doctor.
Only take Trazodone before bed. Never use this medication if you won’t be able to go to bed right away and stay asleep for at least 7 hours.
Never operate a vehicle or other heavy machinery after taking Trazodone.
Follow Up Plan
If you’ve been prescribed Trazodone as part of your trial kit, take one dose each day for two weeks. Be sure to track your sleep quality and energy levels each day using your sleep journal.
After completing two weeks of the prescription, log back into your account at gokick.com to follow up with your doctor and let us know how you’re doing.
